A Message to the Areas Affected by the Kumamoto Earthquakes
and Appreciation to the Support from Olympic Families

I would like to express my deepest condolences for the people who lost their lives, their family and friends in the Kumamoto Earthquakes as well as my sincere sympathies for all those who have been affected.

As countless aftershocks still continues in Kumamoto and other parts of Kyushu area, many of the people should remain with fears and anxieties.

We have received many reassuring messages from Olympic Families across the world, to encourage those who are affected and to wish the safety.
On behalf of Japanese Olympic Committee and as a citizen of Japan, I want to extend our gratitude for the support from the world.

Together with all the Olympic Families, I deeply wish the speedy recovery in Kumamoto and pray that people would be able to return to their peaceful and healthy lives as soon as possible.
